This recipe is actually easy to work with. I had to substitute a number of the fruits and the pecans for other fruits and basics and information technology even so came out looking great! The dough is very thick notwithstanding, so be forwarned! I as well baked information technology in a couple of breadstuff pans and so since I didn't accept three chose to brand muffins out of the rest of the dough. I think they'll look swell on my Christmas cookie trays (and volition probably fool some people into trying them). I fabricated mini-muffins which broiled for well-nigh 22min. and regular muffin size which baked for about 30min. Personally, next time I volition fill the mini-muffin tins fuller next time every bit they don't actually ascension and grease the peak of the tin can as well as the cups. Otherwise information technology turned out wonderfully. Keep in listen that fruitcakes should be completely cooled in their tins to retain wet (which somebody had told me just a little earlier).

I fabricated this cake as my "Main" Christmas dessert this past Christmas and I was VERY VERY pleased with the results! I only made a couple changes, and none of those being fundamental. I used whiskey in place of the orangish juice and I used less candied fruit and more dried fruits like dates and apricots and stale pineapple non candied. I likewise poured 1/4 cup whiskey over top earlier setting bated on the cold backporch to age a piddling. Everyone loved information technology..even my husband who is not a fruitcake person. I will make again and once more. This is now my fruitcake recipe that I will use. Adjacent year I will probably merely use dried fruits and no candied. It makes for a more real flavour. Give thanks you for this recipe!!

I made this get-go final Christmas (with a few fruit tweaks of my own, just I always do that)and everyone loved it, even the fruitcake resisters. This twelvemonth I experimented again and baked information technology in wide mouth pint jars 3/4 full of concoction. Then snugged new lids on the hot baked jars, they sealed as they cooled and made wonderful gifts. This is THE BEST!!!!

My family unit and I didn't like this recipe initially...but and then we let it sit for a while and we loved it...couldn't get enough of information technology. This was my outset experience in both making and eating a fruit cake. I've been told since then that fruitcakes are expected to sit for a while--I didn't know. I would recommend making this for those who might not like fruit cake.

I really dislike tweaking recipes before trying them but i had a few problems getting all the necessary ingredients, so i had to substitute pecans for mixed nuts (mostly peanuts it turns out) and a tropicla fruit mix for pineapple. I besides couldn't be bothered to await for the fruit over night so i put it in the microwave for eight minutes and this did the play a trick on. Instead of using loaf pans i made a circular ane, and it is absolutely huge, everyone is very impressed! I havn't tried it as i've just just started feeding it, but it turned out fantastically, although it needs 3 hrs cooking this way. Thanks so much! We don't like nighttime fruit cake in our house, merely this balance as nigh....well you could say, saved christmas :D

I'd tried this i, information technology's so good especially when let it gear up for 5-7 days in the fridge. I recollect side by side time I volition cut out some sugar because information technology is a chip also sweet for my taste. I use more portion of preserved mandarin orange, and orange flavour and colour showed beautifully.Thank you for sharing.

I followed the recipe to a 'T' and it turned out fantastically. I'one thousand non a huge fruit cake fan only I loved it equally did my family unit. I recommend this recipe to anybody and everybody.
12/28/2010
This fruitcake was amazing! I had never fabricated one before and was looking for a practiced recipe to share with my family. The modest alterations I made were to bake it in a tube pan and i-loaf pan, increasing the baking fourth dimension on the tube pan. I also soaked the fruit overnight using brandy instead of orange juice and wrapped the cooked block in a brandy soaked cheesecloth, adding a bit more every couple of days, for well-nigh 2 weeks. The cake was large hitting and tasted amazing!
12/twenty/2005
This Cake is way better than other fruit cakes I had and this one is the bomb and information technology'southward increbibly good!!!!!!!!!\ This a v Star Cake *****
01/24/2007
You are correct, this recipe converted me! I have never made a fruit cake, this was my first and last. BEST FRUITCAKE EVER!!!! I used the mixed candy-coated fruit and raisins and nuts but, because I simply don't care for cherries and pineapples so I tweaked for my taste and it was Awesome! Cheers
01/02/2006
This is a not bad recipe for white fruitcake. I have been looking for a good white fruitcake recipe, and this is definitley the ane! Will make again every year!
12/04/2009
I have made this cake for years. I normally melt mine in Oct. My recipe calls for this cake to be wrapped in wax paper and and then foil and placed in the refrigerator until Christmas. I accept plant this makes the flavor develop and a more moist cake. It should non be called a fruit block. Delicious.
01/nineteen/2010
I am a new fruitcake lover later I made this recipe and modified it past using less of the golden raisins and pineapple, and no currants nor citron. I added dates, dried cranberries, mixed candied fruit and dried apricots. I also added 1/ii cup of dark rum along with the orange juice and after the cakes were baked and cooled I poured well-nigh i/four cup more rum over each loaf before storing in airtight container. YUM! What a hit for all my friends and family!
12/22/2008
Yummy! I decided to go ahead and review it even with my changes because it was so forgiving! I forgot my list so had to guess on the candied fruits - ended up not buying enough pineapple or any currants. So I doubled the candied orange peel (to sub for some of the pineapple) and used dried blueberries and extra raisins for the currants. I too used less nuts because I didn't buy plenty. I microwaved the fruit with the OJ every bit a previous reviewer mentioned simply I forget to permit information technology cool before calculation it to the butter mixture. Didn't seem to make a departure! I too didn't whip the egg whites quite enough...I have a Kitchen Aid and the basin was already dirty from the butter/sugar/yolk mixture. It still came out bang-up. The season is most like a sugar cookie - but with the dried and candied fruits!
xi/21/2011
This is crawly! It is and so moist and flavorful. Oh my goodness, my husband who hates all types of fruit cake has already eaten a loaf past himself. I followed the directions and it fabricated iii loaf pans. Delicious!! not a laic? Try it!!
01/01/2012
This was my first time making a fruit cake from a recipe, all of my other attempts take been from block mixes plus modifications. This reciepe turned out a wonderful fruit cake. Since I was giving this fruit cake as a Christmas Gift I wanted it to be a fleck special, so I made an Amaretto Fruit Block. I used Amaretto in identify of Orange juice. I also added Almonds along with the Pecans. I didn't want the cake overly sweet so I used "dried" fruit, non "candied" fruit. I'll make this again along with some boosted adjustments, then I'll have an Amaretto Fruit Cake Recipe that I can post. Thanks, Walt
12/05/2010
well this is the best!! Soo good. I soaked the fruit over night in 1/2 cup Jameson and nonetheless added the OJ when I made the cake... the fruit absorbed all the Jameson. Then I let information technology stand for 2 weeks and one time a week gave it a soaking of more jameson. It mellowed out tremendously and had such a wonderful flavor non an alcohol flavor and was not at all dry. simply the best!
12/07/2010
Picked this fruitcake recipe randomly and was very nervous about making it. FANTASTIC! It is moist, full of fruit and but manifestly delicious! Information technology has taken me over xxx some years to get the nerve to try and make fruitcake and I really striking a winner! Thank you.
12/21/2008
This recipe is perfect but I always make my own changes...LOL I soaked the raisins in scotch for 5 days.I and then reserve the scotch to apply to feed my finished fruit block.I added orange extract and some allspice for a lil more than flavor.I still added the orange juice to the mix along with the fruits equally the original recipe required.
10/31/2010
Delicious. This has got to exist the all-time fruit cake I have always made. A fair amount of piece of work but worth it. Hubby loves fruitcake and idea this was one of the best. I followed the recipe exactly simply leaving out the currents. I dont know what the hot water in the oven while cooking does, but it sure was moist. I am so happy I picked this recipe to do.
12/08/2011
This really IS the All-time fruitcake recipe (and I've tried a LOT!) I idea I was the only person on the planet who actually enjoyed fruitcake...but I've fabricated a lot of converts with this recipe. Attempt it. You'll like it. P.S. I made it once again and accidentally used granulated sugar instead of confectioner's saccharide and it still turned out fantastic (two of my friends came by asking if I had whatever more than of that fruitcake) winner, winner, winner!
12/09/2008
This recipe is WONDERFUL! Anybody loved it. I tweaked by soaking the fruit in 8 oz. of triple sec and 8 oz. of orange juice. Amazing texture. Information technology gives fruitcake a skillful name!
10/26/2013
This recipe is good except for i thing. It left out the flavorings. I didn't realize it until I finished, but it needs vanilla, or lemon or orange flavoring. I besides used only stale fruit and soaked for iii days in rum, drained it and put information technology into the mix. While I am soaking my cakes every 3 days with rum, it will still be good but actually needed the flavorings to enhance it.
12/24/2009
Very tasty fruitcake. I made these for gifts. I bought a big container of already chopped candy-coated fruit that had pineapple, lemon, orange, and cherries in information technology. Couldn't find currants, as they were all sold out. Soaked the fruit in the OJ and the golden raisins in rum. It'south fourth dimension consuming, simply worth it!
12/11/2011
I actually don't care for fruitcake but idea I would effort this for my husband. OMG! It was the best fruitcake I accept ever eaten! I will be making this every year from at present on! This recipe is a must!
12/11/2010
This is an very Big recipe. I ended up with v loaves but I measured the ingredients chopped non whole and that may have made the difference. I followed the recipe exactly except for the orange peel which I couldn't find. Lovely, I volition definitely make this recipe again.
07/x/2010
omg i made this cake for my mom's birthday because she loves fruit cakes merely was hesitant at offset since no one else likes fruit cakes. i made it anyway and it was amazing. upshot he non eaters cruel right in love with it and i made information technology once again today and merely thing i changed was that i put half the sugar because the candied fruits add quite a bit of sweetness already and it all the same turned out great. this recipe is definitely a keeper :)
11/14/2010
I'thou non big on fruitcake but my swain has been asking me to brand one for ages... so glad I did! I cut down on the saccharide past three/4 of a cup considering I don't like as well sugariness things. I call up this would go along as well as traditional fruitcake merely in that location's never enough left for me to test that! My custom version volition exist posted presently
06/xviii/2009
This is a great recipe. I used a mix of golden stale fruit macerated in spiced rum and no basics. I likewise plant this block to require some aging, preferably with a skillful rum bath. Fantastic fruit block for lovers and non-lovers alike.
12/05/2010
I got this recipe a couple of weeks agone and since I accept e'er liked fruit cake pretty well, this 1, with the real sugar and no spices seemed to fit my tastes perfectly! I got the fruits I like and soaked them overnight. Put the pan of h2o in the over and baked 10 mini loaf pans full. I cooked at the designated temp just for 1 hr and they all came out perfectly. In fact, I had so much fruit and basics, I baked 3 batches. Now my husband and I have nice gifts to requite our employees and still have some for our family and friends. I volition historic period them in the fridge for a week or 2 and they should be perfect! Thanks so much for the great recipe!!
12/12/2009
This is WONDERFUL! I personally hate all baked fruit, but this is the exception! I made if for a bakesale, and had to brand some other batch for myself! It's really like shooting fish in a barrel to substitute the dried fruits. The orange juice gives it a real tangy season that is delicious. If yous don't have time to let the fruit and orange juice sit overnight, put it the fruit in the microwave with the orangish juice for nigh 5 minutes. (I put mine in a shallow pan in the bottom of the oven while I was pre-heating and mixing the residue of information technology...) All in all, it's a really low-cal, delicious version of fruit cake, that is piece of cake to customize!
12/21/2008
This is the all-time fruit block I've ever tasted--including those expensive ones made past the monks. Merely fabulous!
12/21/2008
Especially good toasted, if y'all like fruit cake.
04/24/2011

12/24/2012
This is the absolute all-time fruit cake I have ever eaten. Beats all store bought one besides. I love fruit cake and decided to try making one myself (for the first time) Establish this recipe and I followed it to the T. Fabricated no changes at all. Thank you and then much for sharing. This will definitely be added to my favorite recipes. (btw, my daughter never liked fruit cake until she had a slice of this one)
12/17/2013
This volition be my 3rd Christmas blistering this wonderful fruitcake. It is so moist and succulent! I supplant the candied fruit with dried fruit because this is the fashion I adopt it. The first year I went out and bought the candied fruits and candied citron and orange pare in the plastic containers and was merely bearded with the way it smelled. No fashion I wanted to ruin a perfectly good block (and fourth dimension, effort and coin) with that junk, then I replaced with dried cherries, organic raisins, currants and dried pineapples and zested some orange and Lemon skin into the batter. Just a really really skilful cake - I expect frontward to Christmas season each year considering of this fruitcake!
11/15/2012
Never take fabricated a fruit cake before. Have always loved them. Decided to give it a attempt and I was really impressed with the manner it came out. Pretty much stuck to the recipe and volition get in again after the holidays and the price drops on the ingredients. I did requite some to friend that didn't like fruit cake and he really liked it. Tin't wait to try it on my family unit at Thanksgiving. Later putting in the cakes in the oven and started washing dishes, I constitute that the end of ane of my spatulas was missing....wasn't in the first cake. Guess I will observe it on Thanksgiving! LOL Thank you for the Recipe!
12/24/2010
Exactly what I was looking for..and boy, was it practiced! Simply some pocket-size tweaks (2 1/2 cups golden raisins, 3 cups chopped pecans and no currants), and nonetheless it was fantastic. I have an extra loaf in the pantry that'south been receiving a TBL of Apricot Brandy everyday for a week...can't wait to try it tonight!
06/25/2010
I idea I hated fruit cake until I tried this recipe! I fabricated it because my married man is one of those few people who say they like fruit cake and since i really dislike booze soaked desserts I made this recipe as a compromise to adapt both our tastes and we both Dearest it! I do have to sub various dried fruits in place of the candy-coated fruit because I cannot find it in our small town.
08/09/2011
Made my whole family unit and extended family realized that nosotros all LOVE fruitcake! everyone and their MOM asked me for the recipe. :-) thank you!
11/30/2014
In 2014, my husband wanted fruit block...simply eeuuww...then I halved this recipe. Four days later I remade this recipe! Oh My!! I have used this recipe ever year since. Each year, my fruit & nut ingredients vary. I e'er apply dried fruit~today I used papaya, pineapple, apricots, cranberries, golden raisins & cherries. Plus pecans & walnuts. Sometimes it equals 6 cups, sometimes vii cups. If the stale fruit is sweetened~ I apply a flake less sugar. Near importantly is to beat the egg whites thoroughly. I used 3~4x8 pans & five~3x6 pans. The small pans I baked 68 minutes. The larger pans broiled for 93 minutes. One of the 3x6 is already in my fizogg!! I just love this fruit cake!! Oh, once last thing I discovered...it does not keep well in the refrigerator...I was soo bummed to discover a couple loaves blue with mold. dang Now I continue any fruit cake in the freezer. Even taken right out of the freezer, it cuts so well. Enjoy!!
12/thirty/2011
What a groovy cake. I had to substitute a few things because they are but non available in Costa Rica. I.e currants and I couldn't find pineapple chunks, But I just substituted equivalent amounts of what I could find. I as well added some brandy. Had the cake prepped and prepare to get in the oven and realized I had forgot the egg whites. Remixed the cake and baked it in the oven. The odour, the sense of taste, it is abosolutely wonderful. Information technology is a must on my Christmas baking.
12/15/2013
I fabricated these cakes and used iii cups of carbohydrate instead of four. Turned out really good. The pan of water in the oven helps go along the block moist. Very flavorful. Thanks for the recipe
12/xxx/2013
Information technology's awesome! I fabricated 2 loafs of it this by Christmas, and my family unit absolutely loved it, and now they are asking me for more than on New Years'. I I did make a few changes thou. I soaked the candied fruit in 1 cup of orange liquor the nighttime earlier ( instead of orange juice). I used gluten free flour instead of the regular "all purpose" 1, and I replaced the sugar with splenda. Also, the butter I used was the all natural butter spread, instead of the regular. A few changes made it a petty healthier, and the gustation was merely fabulous. Thanks for the recipe, and Happy New Years y'all all!
02/22/2015
subbed out a few fruits but it was wonderful! The recipe make a lot more than than I was expecting. A loaf, ii mini loafs, and a whole tray of muffins!
04/25/2011
Easy to make and a good manner to introduce kids to fruit block!
12/20/2011
Made 18 servings which equaled one loaf breadstuff. I'll have to update my review in a calendar week to let the fruit cake age.
01/14/2013
I made this fruitcake this past Christmas. I am from a fruitcake famly every bit I watched fruitcakes existence fabricated from the time I started to walk. This recipe was the best I take ever seen made or fabricated myself. I was so moist and tender. I think it was the powdered carbohydrate and egg whites since this is the first time I have used these two ingredients equally chosen for in the recipe. Thanks for sharing.
12/13/2009
It'due south true this is the best fruit cake. doesn't make to many loaves. The simply deviation I did since I couldn't discover the candied orange and pineapple I used 2 small containers of citrus peel and i large container of chopped cherries worked out just fine simply be conscientious when chopping the pecans don't over whiz them in the processor makes it to fine
01/28/2008
Wonderful recipe. Made several times and gave as gifts. I had nothing but rave reviews from all..Will certainly do this again.
12/24/2014
My husband decided he wanted to endeavor to may a fruit cake similar his mother used to make nosotros did not have her recipe but this looked close. We tweak some of the fruit but otherwise followed the recipe. He bake the cakes then let them set overnight then he put some honey whiskey over them and allow them set another night. We took 1 bite and could not end eating. DECADENT....
12/14/2013
Fantabulous recipe. I made this as the recipe specified though I had to use some different stale fruits based on what was available locally. I sampled information technology presently afterwards baking and it was very skilful so simply it has definitely improved with fourth dimension. I have brushed with a tablespoon of brandy weekly. I highly recommend!
eleven/13/2016
It is delicious merely made way more than recipe said. I substituted most of the candlied fruit for stale fruit every bit well equally soaking the fruit in Brandy instead of OJ.
11/24/2016
I've made this before and I will make it once again forth with the "Rich Dark Fruitcake" from this site. To this recipe I added 1/two cup apricot jam, 1 Tb vanilla, ii tsp almond extract and I omit the orange peel. I soak the fruit overnight, sometimes longer, in 1/2 - 3/4 loving cup of brandy, rum or whiskey (whatever I have on paw). When the cakes are cooked and take cooled downwards, I utilise a clean spray bottle and liberally spray the cakes with more alcohol earlier wrapping in parchment paper and then storing in big ziplock bags which I put within plastic bins in my cool basement. I make them a month preferable ii before Christmas and spray them several more times before they are gear up, with the last spray no closer than 2 weeks before they are eaten. Both of these recipes are so good that people want to buy them from me, so I always make extra.
12/23/2010
I've substituted a few dissimilar fruits in this and it'southward great. I used orangish juice the first time, only I think this time I volition attempt rum. ;)
12/17/2012
I am one of the ones who tin non stand up fruit cake, simply I was pleasantly surprised by this one. I am not a fan of candied or maraschino cherries then I used dried cherries instead and had to omit the pecans due to allergies. The cakes disappeared within 2 days and having to brand again and will take to hide them for Christmas.
11/27/2012
I have been trying to discover a skilful recipe for white fruit block for a long time. This one fit exactly what I wanted, notwithstanding I was unable to find currants and had to sub in dates. I do believe that the writer Style underestimated the prep time. The batter was then thick it took me forever to stir in the flour. Also it actually does make two loaf pans and 2 small loaf pans. Be prepared to eat or give away a lot. Wonderful.
12/15/2012
Very proficient. Yielded three loaf pans, that were washed in i 1/2 hours. A far cry from the old dark fruitcake that I used to aid my female parent mix upward in a wash pan! (those were probably better suited for door stops). I volition be calculation this to my Christmas recipe file.
12/04/2014
Just wonderful. I used all dried fruit versus any candied considering I don't care for the latter. After cooling the loaves, I wrapped them in cheesecloth, brushed them with rum, and then refrigerated them in an airtight container for a week or so. Anybody loved them, adults and kids, fruitcake lovers and fruitcake haters ;). Great recipe that I will definitely make again and again.
12/xviii/2015
This my 3rd time to make this, or my variation of information technology. I don't apply any candy-coated fruit.... i use dried fruits such as pineapple, apricots, and bulk dried cherries. Added 1/2 C. of bourbon as well; I accept to reduce everything past 1/iii of the full ingredients, since information technology won't all fit in my mixer. Switch to the dough hook later on I add more than than 1 cup of flour (before I add together the fruit/ nuts); Fifty-fifty then, it's easier to split the batters into ii large bowls equally your fold in the nuts.; My additions: ane/2 tsp. cinammon, and 1/2 tsp. nutmeg (or substitute pumpkin pie spice). Besides, I reduce the sugar to only half of what this lists . Y'all can also employ Splenda instead, and information technology tastes practiced. (but exercise not use Splenda in the corporeality listed for total sugar here.... use half). Check it xv minutes before the cooking fourth dimension here. After baked.... pierce block and pour another i/2 cup Bourbon on it. Wrap in wax paper & foil, and store at least one week before serving.... i month is amend.
12/01/2014
I fabricated this recipe over 5 years agone and brought it into piece of work. It vaporized -- even people who didn't like fruitcake loved it. This is a no-neglect fruit cake. I think that the two oz. each of candied citron and orange peel are what contribute to people liking this particular recipe. Many fruitcake recipes go heavy on the citrus. This year I'm making information technology again and substituting brandy for the orangish juice, and chopped apricots in identify of some of the raisins. It's of import to grease your pans, and and then line them with greased parchment newspaper. Excellent recipe.
11/23/2015
I followed the recipe just didn't add Citron (don't similar). I love fruit cake & this block turned out fine. However, information technology does not have a depth of rich flavour and needs spices & maybe a splash of liquer.
06/xix/2013
The best fruits cake I ever consume.. Basically I don't similar fruits cake but after I try this recipies.... Hmmmmm yummmyyyy...
12/17/2014
This cake is delicious. I did not utilise the alcohol.
12/02/2016
This is a really good fruit block. I've used the recipe to make miniature Christmas fruit cakes for coworkers for the last several years, and now I become requests for it. The first time I made the recipe I made it equally written. I prefer dried fruits, nevertheless, and since then have substituted unlike dried fruits for the candied fruit, depending on which dried fruit I had available. Information technology's turned out nicely with whatever of the combinations I used. I likewise add about 1/iv cup of rum to the batter, and wrap the cakes in rum dampened cheese cloth for a couple of weeks.
ten/25/2017
Decades of searching for fruitcake recipes led me to this one a few years back. I have used it with great success at present four times.. I often modify upwards the dried fruits but continue the quantities the aforementioned. I've even used dried figs, dates, prunes and sour cherries successfully. I adopt hazelnuts. I also add chopped dried mango for added color. This is basically a skillful stable buttercake recipe but information technology makes MUCH more the recipe indicates. I hands get (6) 3x5 (i) 5x8 and (ane) eight" round cakes. Try halfing if you demand less. Hats off to Brenda's mom's recipe!
12/13/2016
This was an piece of cake recipe to follow and it turned out OK. I merely missed the spices. I'll try it again with some modifications for my taste!
12/14/2014
Awesome recipe!! I soaked fruit in whiskey for 3 days, and then afterward it was broiled i brushed it one time a calendar week with whiskey again, for four weeks. splendid season
12/03/2018
Great recipe. I've made this block twice now. Turned out great both times. This is the only fruit cake recipe you will need!
01/05/2015
Oh, my. This is crazy addictive! If I use the "candy-coated" fruit again, I will cut down on the sugar merely a bit. If using regular dried fruit, the sugar level is probably just fine. That will exist a future experiment. This volition be my go to quick staff of life base recipe, and my favorite bootleg gift to requite. Thanks for a great recipe!
xi/12/2012
I have made this recipe for several years. I add the fruits and nuts we like best. I besides soak the cakes in a little brandy for at least a month before Christmas. It e'er turns out well. I think what makes this cake is the beaten egg whites and the confectioners sugar, also every bit the butter.
01/01/2015
Absolutely delicious - and like shooting fish in a barrel to put together in one case everything is cut and chopped. Merely ... it crumbled still advisedly I cutting the slices - delicious crumbles just the slices would have looked meliorate on the platter! Information technology was necessary to make several substitutions considering ingredients in original recipe are non available in my area - stale cranberries instead of currents, maraschino cherries (well-drained) instead of dried or candied cherries, night raisins instead of white, and added some dried apricots instead of citron. Did I drizzle too much whiskey on top, or not brand it far plenty ahead of eating, or maybe needed a different brand or quantity of flour, or dissimilar oven temperature? Will definitely brand this again simply would like to do slices side by side time! Ideas everyone?
12/17/2014
And then much better than store bought! It'southward my second twelvemonth using this recipe and didn't change annihilation. Letting it sit in the fridge for at least five days does brand taste and texture even better. Although, smelling the loaves fresh out of the oven in front of me is making information technology hard to resist.
12/sixteen/2012
Totally the best! I prefer light fruitcake to night, which isn't easy to notice anymore. So, I made it final year and repeated it this year, soaking it each fourth dimension in brandy - YUM. I substitute candied papaya for the cherries, but don't like those things and candy-coated my own orange and lemon peel (easy to do) to replace the citron. Just as good with the pecans for those who accept nut allergies.
09/07/2014
This is The Best Ever!!!!! my husband of 23 years informed me (two years ago) that he really likes White Fruitcake and isn't very addicted of night fruitcake(my regular recipe).... go figure......this is a wonderful recipe, I even made a batch for Valentines Day!!!

12/22/2019
Wonderful and made it just every bit recipe called for. I will brand information technology (God willing) next Christmas likewise. Thank you for a fantastic recipe.
12/17/2016
Honey THIS RECIPE !!!!!! .
12/24/2017
Made this exactly as the recipe states and it is delicious. My family loves information technology also. The recipe made 3 loaves. Definitely will be making this again. Thanks for the great recipe!
01/xi/2017
This was fabulous! I don't even similar fruit cake too much, just my friend and I thought nosotros'd give it a try! I probably added a smidge more than booze just to brand information technology more festive!
12/29/2018
The best fruit cake I have ever made! Swell recipe

I started making this block five years ago for my husband at Christmas. It makes a lot of batter, so with what didn't fit in the 5x9 loaf pan, I make 3 extra slightly smaller loaf size cakes and gave them to good friends. Anybody wants this fruitcake for Christmas now. It is admittedly delicious exactly as written. The merely matter I add is some adult beverage as it ages for a couple of weeks. I have used rum, Jamesons, bourbon, amaretto, doesn't matter - they all plow out dandy! Cheers so much for this recipe, Brenda, I can see it will be my Christmas tradition for a long long time.

Made a very similar version, merely didn't use confectioners sugar, our family recipe and no basics allowed in the white version. Nosotros put basics and currants in the Imperial Fruitcake.

As I live in Hawaii, I turned this into a tropical fruitcake. I used stale and sweetened mango, papaya and pineapple as my fruits and as well added dried coconut (unsweetened). For nuts I used macadamias. I used a mixture of fresh squeezed orangish juice and coconut rum to soak the fruit. Information technology tasted great directly out of the oven, but I am looking forward to even more flavor after information technology has been in the refrigerator wrapped in rum soaked cheese fabric for a few days .

This turned out bang-up! It's a lot of work, though, as the batter is both big in volume and strong to stir. You also demand to be able to use three loaves. Otherwise, great recipe.

I used only candied cherries and pineapple (along with pecan basics)considering those are the two fruits my family unit likes in information technology. Nonetheless, the fruitcake was divine! I've added this to my recipe box. It's a winner!

My married man loves this block (and then do I). I make it 2 to 3 weeks before Christmas and add 1 Tablespoon of Christian Brothers Brandy over the superlative; of course you can add more...

This is I remember the fifth twelvemonth in a row I've fabricated this. I don't like fruitcake, so I don't actually like this.. However, my father likes fruitcake so I made it, husband tried it and he likes it a lot. So I at present make it every twelvemonth.

I did make changes, only because I couldn't find the fruit called for - I just substituted stale pineapple, cherries, raisins, gold raisins and dates with some grated lemon and orangish peel. I also marinated with a combo of whiskey and orange juice. I would add some vanilla and maybe a trivial table salt next time, but volition definitely brand again!

I fabricated some changes... of form... like everybody! lol! I took out some of the sugar and added some molasses to make a dark fruitcake. I also scaled it for 6 servings and it fabricated 7 regular sized muffins.

Used all dried fruits instead of candy-coated. Added an actress 1/ii loving cup of spiced rum and brushed baked cakes with additional spiced rum. Baked cakes in 3x6 inch foil pans for ane 1/2 hrs. Baked until golden brownish and cake tester comes out clean.

I highly recommend this recipe. This is the first time I've used confectioners sugar for a cake; I was impressed. The cake's texture is lighter than I imagined; the result off the chart.

Loved how the cake came out. Merely I did modify the fruits in the cake to those I love ... Planning to bake the next batch soon, and this time I am thinking of changing things a little, and using Night Rum instead of the orangish Juice.
